While both provide peer-to-peer trading, P2P exchanges allow direct user-to-user interactions, often involving fiat payment methods and escrow. Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) operate on-chain with smart contracts and automated order matching, typically for crypto-to-crypto trades. P2P is more flexible for fiat conversions and local payment preferences, whereas DEX prioritizes on-chain liquidity and decentralization.
